Faculty Service Award
The Faculty Service Award recognizes outstanding service contributions to departments, programs and the university by faculty. An awardee is chosen annually to recognize and celebrate exceptional uncompensated service that has benefited the university.
Any member of faculty or staff may submit a nomination. Nominees should possess a substantial and continuing record of university service. Please detail specific accomplishments and briefly describe how recent contributions have had a positive impact on the university.
The award includes a cash prize of $2,500 to be presented at the April faculty meeting. If you have questions about the Faculty Service Award, please email Kathleen McMahan.
Eligibility
All tenure-line and renewable contract faculty are eligible to be nominated for the Faculty Service Award.
Award Committee
The Award committee consists of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs and the Deans of the four schools.
2026 Recipient | Rosalind Kabrhel, Associate Professor of the Practice of Legal Studies

Nominator Comments
- “She is among the first to volunteer to serve on committees at the school or university level and seems to always be able to say yes when she is directly asked to serve. She is willing to pivot in her teaching to meet new objectives of the FYS, go the extra step for approvals of courses as DEIS-US or DJW, and she supports the university's fundraising efforts through engagement in faculty in the field.”
- "Professor Kabrhel brings kindness, humility, and dedication to all of the work that she does with students at Brandeis. In addition to working with students in the classroom, as a founder of the Brandeis Educational Justice Initiative, she has been able to engage students in meaningful work outside of school in the greater community."
