Public Health Information and Resources
Each year, respiratory viruses are responsible for millions of illnesses and thousands of hospitalizations and deaths in the United States. In addition to the virus that causes COVID-19, there are many other types of respiratory viruses, including flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). We all play a critical role in the promotion of health, prevention of disease and empowerment of individuals to manage illness and disabilities.
2025-2026 Respiratory Disease Season (RSV, Flu, Covid-19)
The CDC anticipates that the upcoming U.S. fall and winter respiratory illness season will result in a similar number of peak hospitalizations from COVID-19, influenza, and RSV as seen last year. The CDC's outlook is informed by historical trends, expert analysis, and scenario based modeling.
Brandeis University strongly recommends that all students, faculty, and staff stay up to date with the latest seasonal influenza (flu) and COVID-19 vaccinations to help protect our campus community. These recommendations align with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health guidelines for the 2025–2026 academic year.
Covid-19 and Flu vaccines are available to students on campus. Reserve your spot in advance to ensure availability.
If you are experiencing flu like symptoms, please follow CDC recommendations. If you have questions or need additional assistance call the Health Center @ 781-736-3677 to schedule an appointment to be seen in our Respiratory Unit
