Fall 2024 Arrival/Orientation Information
Congratulations on your acceptance to Brandeis for the Fall of 2024!
New undergraduate students (first year, transfer and exchange) will move onto campus on Sunday August 25, 2024, unless you are involved in a Pre-Orientation program (more details to follow) or are on certain fall athletic teams (athletes who will need to move in early will be contacted by their coaches).
Orientation for all new undergraduate students will begin the afternoon of Sunday August 25 and continue through Tuesday August 27. The first day of classes will be Wednesday August 28.
Save the Date: Family Weekend will be September 27-29 2024. More information will be forthcoming.
Before You Arrive
Below you will find a month-by-month calendar which lists the tasks you need to complete between May and August. Please make sure you have taken care of these items before your arrival on campus.

- Confirm Your Enrollment (due May 1): Log into your DEISconnect portal to respond to our offer of admission. First Year students must enroll by May 1, 2024. Transfer students must enroll by the date stated in their acceptance letter.
- Activate Your Brandeis Account (as soon as possible): After submitting your enrollment deposit, you’ll receive an email with your student ID number and instructions on how to set up your Brandeis account. Your account will give you access to complete many of the tasks on this list!
- Request a Deferral (due May 15): The Brandeis University Office of Admissions recognizes that some admitted students may wish to take a gap year to pursue personal goals. Students admitted to Brandeis as first-years may Request a Deferral for one year.
- Submit Financial Aid Documents (due June 1): Submit all required documents to the Office of Student Financial Services as soon as possible so that your financial aid award can be finalized. Tax documents should be uploaded to the College Board’s IDOC imaging service. Electronic images of your documents will be shared with Brandeis. All other types of missing documents can be uploaded via your DEISConnect portal. The list of required documents will be emailed to your Brandeis email address in addition to your personal email account. Please note that there is no formal acceptance procedure for your award. Payment of the matriculation deposit is considered acceptance of your award. Questions? Email sfs@brandeis.edu
- Complete the Writing Assessment (available May 1; due May 20): All incoming students must complete the First-Year Writing Assessment, except Myra Kraft Achievers. This includes transfer students and students with AP credits. See instructions on our website or visit https://bit.ly/BranWrite. Students with disabilities who may qualify for additional time for the assessment should write to uwp@brandeis.edu. For all other academic accommodations, see the next item.
- Request Academic Accommodations if applicable (ASAP): If you are a student with a disability (learning disability, mental health condition, chronic illness, autism, etc.) and would like to request academic accommodations, complete the Student Accessibility Support (SAS) Disability Introduction Form to begin the interactive accommodations process. SAS will begin reviewing requests after June 1, but completing the form earlier allows us to begin sending you relevant resources and information on webinars, etc. before that date. Accommodation requests should be made as early in the summer as possible to ensure a smooth transition; later requests will be reviewed but may result in delayed implementation of accommodations. - Complete the Housing Application (available early May; due mid-June - exact dates TBD): Sign into MyHousing using your Brandeis username and password. Choose "Housing Applications and Forms" on the left-hand side and follow the instructions to complete your housing application. Questions? Email dcl@brandeis.edu
- Request Disability Housing Accommodations for Campus Housing (available early May; due mid-June - exact dates TBD): Students needing disability accommodations in campus housing for diagnosed medical/physical/mental health conditions must also complete the separate disability accommodations request process. - Complete Virtual Orientation Module #1 (available May 20; due June 14): Over the course of the summer, you will receive three required virtual Orientation modules to complete. The first module, Academic and Career Resources, will be sent to you via your Brandeis and personal email accounts on May 20 and is due on June 14. Questions? Email orientation@brandeis.edu
- Submit Health & Immunization documentation to Health Center (asap; due June 30): Go to the Brandeis Health Center website for detailed instructions on how to submit your health care information via the secure patient portal. You are required by Massachusetts State Regulation 105 CMR 220 to provide Immunization documentation prior to attending school. We recommend that you arrange to obtain your immunizations, physical exam records, blood work, and tuberculosis screenings as needed from your healthcare provider as soon as possible. Once you have submitted your documentation, it will be verified by the Health Center. You will receive correspondence via the secure patient portal to confirm your compliance status. - Apply for Student Visa: If you need an F-1 or J-1 student visa, prepare for your arrival by applying for your student visa or working with your current school to transfer your SEVIS record to Brandeis. Questions? Email ISSO@brandeis.edu
- Learn about International Student Welcome Days (IWD): In May, International students and students with a foreign address will be notified about IWD and move-in for IWD participants on August 22, 2024. Questions? Email int-welcome@brandeis.edu
June 2024

- Request Final High School Transcript (due July 8): Request an official year-end transcript from your high school. Final transcripts should be sent directly from your school to the Office of Admissions (not the Registrar's Office). Note: final transcripts must be received before you can register for courses. - Register for your Nelnet account and, if applicable, give your parents/guardians access to your bill (due June 30): In advance of the Fall 2024 bill release in early July, students should log into the Nelnet Student Account Portal to set up their student profile and add parents/guardians or authorized parties. To access your Nelnet Student Account Portal, log into Workday, select 'Student Account' from the Menu, and click the Nelnet Student Account Portal link.
- Set Up Payment Plan, if interested (due June 30): Student Account balances can be paid through a monthly payment plan beginning in July (5 payments) or August (4 payments) for the fall bill. A new monthly payment plan must be set up each semester. See Payment Options in your Nelnet Student Account Portal for all payment details.
- Select University Writing Seminar section preferences (June 17 - 21): Initial enrollment in a University Writing Seminar (UWS) is handled through a lottery process, and you will be sent an email from the Registrar regarding a Qualtrics survey that you will use to rank your top nine choices for a fall term UWS. - Attend a Group Advising Session & learn more about course registration between late June and mid-July (exact dates TBD): Join academic advisors and Roosevelt Fellows (peer academic advisors) for community-building, conversation, and guidance at a group advising session. We'll be on hand to answer questions related to academics, course selection, and registration. You will recieve an email with the different session options and can sign up for a session at the date/time that works best for you. Questions? Email acserv@brandeis.edu
- Upload photo for your Brandeis Student ID (available beginning June 1; due August 16): Upload a photo for your Brandeis Student ID so it will be printed and ready for you upon arrival! Be sure to follow the instructions under "Uploading Your Photo" to make sure it is useable. Questions? Email campuscard@brandeis.edu
- Complete Virtual Orientation Module #2 (available June 17; due July 12): The second module, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, will be sent to you via your Brandeis and personal email accounts on June 17 and is due July 12. Questions? Email orientation@brandeis.edu
- Enroll in or Waive Health Insurance (complete by July 1 to be accurately billed; final deadline September 14): Go to the University Health Plans website and select 'Brandeis' to see what the school health plan covers. You are required by State Regulations to enroll or waive coverage annually. Please note that international students will be automatically enrolled in the school health plan. Questions? If you waive the school insurance, you must upload a photo of your insurance card (front and back) to the Secure Patient Portal https://brandeis.medicatconnect.com/ by July 1.
July 2024
A reminder that the following tasks outlined in June have July due dates (or are offered in July as well):
- Enroll in or Waive Health Insurance (deadline in order for it to be reflected on your bill is July 1)
- Request Final High School Transcript (due July 8)
- Attend a Group Advising Session & learn more about course registration between late June and mid-July (exact dates TBD)
- Complete Virtual Orientation Module #2 (available June 17; due July 12)
- In addition, you will receive your housing assignment this month and you should start to connect with your roommate(s), if applicable, and start making plans on what to bring. You can also learn about microfridge rentals, pre-arrival delivery of items to the residence halls by Storage Squad and Renter's Insurance through GradGuard on the Community Living website.

- Complete the Financial Responsibility Agreement & Tax Form Consent (available July 1; due July 9): Complete these tasks in Workday prior to class registration.
- Complete Student Loan Counseling, if applicable (due August 1): Federal Student Loan Recipients will receive entrance counseling and loan signing instructions from Student Financial Services. Please note that this must be completed by August 1 or the loans will be cancelled, which may result in a balance due.
- Fall bill available online in mid-July (exact date TBD): Students should access the Nelnet Student Account Portal by logging into Workday, selecting 'Student Account' from the Menu and clicking the Nelnet Student Account Portal link to view e-bills and account transactions, make payments and manage monthly payment plans.
- Register for Tuition Insurance once bill is released in mid-July, if interested (due August 27): Optional Tuition Insurance is available to supplement the Brandeis tuition refund policy through GradGuard. Students can elect this insurance through a link in Nelnet when they view the online bill. To access Nelnet, students should log into Workday, select Student Account from the Menu and click the Nelnet Student Account Portal link. Additional details and enrollment available on the GradGuard website. Tuition Insurance enrollment is due prior to the first day of class on August 28.

- Complete Virtual Orientation Module #3 (available July 15; due August 9): The third module, Getting Connected On and Around Campus, will be sent to you via your Brandeis and personal email accounts on July 15 and is due August 9. Questions? Email orientation@brandeis.edu
- Attend the "Health Care Resources for International Students" virtual presentation hosted by the Health Center and the ISSO (exact date TBD): International Students & students with a foreign address will receive an invite the first week in July to attend the "Health Care Resources for International Students" virtual presentation hosted by the Health Center and the ISSO.
- Complete the ISSO Pre-Arrival Modules (available mid-July; due August 21): The "International Student Pre-Arrival Modules" were created to assist international students as they prepare for their arrival at Brandeis University. These modules are required for all incoming undergraduate and graduate F-1 and J-1 students and should be completed before arrival at Brandeis. International students who have been admitted to Brandeis University will receive an email with instructions on how to complete the modules approximately one month before their program start date.
August 2024
A reminder that the following tasks outlined in July have August due dates:
- Complete Student Loan Counseling, if applicable (due August 1)

- Complete "What Would Brandeis Do? Supporting Community Health and Safety"(available August 1; due August 22): New students must complete the "What Would Brandeis Do? Supporting Community Health and Safety" online training module before arriving on campus. The training will become available in LATTE on August 1 and must be completed by August 22. Completion of WWBD is mandatory and a prerequisite for a Navigating Health and Safety course, which you will take in your first year.
