Fall 2013 Midyear Programs

There are many opportunities available for you as a midyear student.

For the adventurous, Brandeis works with several fall programs that span the globe and are tailored specifically to meet your academic and social interests. From the United States to Europe, the fall semester is a wonderful time to explore different places and cultures.

Europe

England

Brandeis midyears may attend a fall program in London through the College of Global Studies at Arcadia University. You will enroll in five courses in areas such as history, art history, literature, environmental studies and journalism; participate in research workshops and discussion groups; and tour renowned libraries.

In addition, you will participate in excursions in and around London and engage with your local context through guided community service opportunities. Scholarships are available.

France

Brandeis midyears have an exciting opportunity to study and live in Toulouse, France with SIT Study Abroad. This program will allow you to complete four courses while earning 16 credits toward your degree, while gaining or honing French language skills and a deep appreciation for the vibrant French culture. Scholarships are available.

The interdisciplinary coursework in this program will expose you to the complexity of the contemporary Francophone world. Emphasis is given to French language learning and community service projects tailored to students’ particular interests, building upon the theme of language, community and social change.

Spain

Brandeis midyears can study and live in Granada, Spain with SIT Study Abroad. This program will allow you to complete four courses while earning 16 credits toward your degree while gaining or honing language skills and a deep appreciation for the Spanish culture. Scholarships are available.

Lecturers are drawn from the University of Granada, government agencies, local NGOs, and experts from the community. Emphasis is given to Spanish language learning and community service projects tailored to students’ particular interests, building upon the theme of language, community and social change.

United States

Washington, D.C.

You don’t have to leave the country to experience a new and enriching environment. You can also spend your fall semester in the United States on American University's Washington Mentorship Program. You'll take five classes that cover cross-cultural communication, politics, writing and an elective of your choice. The Mentored Field Practicum courses will take your learning outside of the classroom, allowing you to gain practical experience in a site tailored to your interests.

You'll live on American University's main campus and join the larger campus community through eating in the dining halls as well as participating in university events and activities.
