I have a deep interest in the ways people communicate with each other and how they use technology to achieve that goal. I've been building interactive wearable devices since the mid-1990s, and studying how people might use them to share emotion in our increasingly digital world. More recently, I'm excited by the ways these technologies might help solve big medical issues, like chronic pain and hypertension. Small sensors that interact with the emotion system can help block sensations, or let you know your stress patterns so you can change them.
