For New Faculty
Welcome to Brandeis University!
We are thrilled that you have decided to join us! Brandeis faculty are leaders in their fields, as passionate about teaching and mentorship as they are about pushing the boundaries of knowledge. Our students are motivated, compassionate, curious and open to exploring new and challenging experiences.
The information provided below will direct you to various resources on our website that can help support your teaching endeavors, point you in the direction of faculty-student collaborations on research and creative projects, and support you in your role as a teacher and mentor.
Be sure to also review the New Faculty Checklist on the Provost's website, which will will walk you through a detailed list of onboarding items and resources. I encourage you to attend the Center for Teaching and Learning's New Faculty Orientation sessions, which are offered prior to the first week of instruction in August and January of each year. If you have any questions or need further guidance as you settle into your new home at Brandeis, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or one of the members of my team. The Assistant Deans for Faculty Affairs, Heather Young (Creative Arts and Social Sciences) and Alicia Hyland (Humanities and Sciences) provide research and administrative support on various projects ranging from faculty searches and appointments to interpretations of the Faculty Handbook and SEIU collective bargaining agreement. If you'd like to schedule a meeting with me, please contact Kathleen McMahan, Senior Department Administrator for Faculty Affairs and Communications. I look forward to seeing you on campus.
