Elizabeth SetronEconomics and Mathematics Major

Elizabeth Setren is a 2010 graduate of Brandeis who majored in Economics and Mathematics and is currently a PhD candidate in Economics at MIT. During her time at Brandeis, she served as an Undergraduate Department Representative.

Taking a wide variety of both undergraduate and graduate economics classes as well as writing a senior thesis helped confirm her interest in economics and prepared her well to continue on to a top PhD program. She greatly valued the help of her professors in developing research projects, discussing and understanding class material, pursuing summer internships, and applying for jobs and graduate school.

Before starting her graduate work, Elizabeth worked on labor economics and local public finance issues at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Her current research interests include issues in inequality and the achievement gap in the US education system.
