Connect With Your Peers
We have created the Brandeis Graduate Student Space Google Chat designed to help graduate students connect, share information, and support one another across programs.
This is an opt-in, student-driven space for both new and current graduate students to engage with peers across the university.
You can use this space to:
- Ask academic and non-academic questions
- Share resources, opportunities, and campus events
- Connect with students across departments
- Organize study groups or collaborations
- Posting “swap shop” items such as buying, selling, or giving away goods among students
- Coordinate informal activities (e.g., carpooling, student interest groups)
How to join:

- Confirm your student status and agree to community guidelines
- Once added, the Brandeis Graduate Student Space will appear in your Google Chat (Brandeis account). Please allow 2-3 business days for your request to be processed.
Participation is voluntary, and students are expected to engage respectfully and in accordance with the group’s community standards and the University Rights and Responsibilities.
To help make the space useful without becoming overwhelming, you can customize your Google Chat notifications after joining:
• Click the drop-down arrow next to the space name and select Notifications
• Choose For you to receive notifications only when you are @mentioned or when there is activity in threads you follow
• Choose None if you prefer not to receive notifications from the space (you can still view messages whenever you like)
• If you'd like to eliminate alerts entirely, select Mute conversation and save your settings
• You can also adjust notification sounds in Google Chat Settings if you prefer visual notifications without sound
These settings can be changed at any time based on your preferences and level of participation.
