Your enrollment window is defined based on your current class standing. Class standing is based on your completed (and graded) units. Seniors are students who have earned 88 or more credits, juniors have earned between 56 and 87 credits, and sophomores have earned between 24 and 55 credits. Appointments are automatically assigned in Workday, as long as you are an active student.
No. You may choose to utilize the academic planning tools in Workday, such as the academic plan or schedule feature to view simulations of courses but it is totally optional. However, if you do not create a plan or schedule, you may register for a course by using the "Find Course Section Brandeis" report.

Pre-requisite overrides within Workday are used to override an academic requirement that may be preventing you from registering from a course.
Pre-requisite overrides are not used for waitlist management. To be moved from a waitlist to the course roster, the department administrator or instructor of the course will need to manage the waitlist within Workday and manually add the student to the course.
This could be due to a number of causes. First, using your student profile select the academics tab and the academic progress tab to validate that the transfer credit has been applied to your student profile. If the credit was not applied within Workday, you will need to reach out to the Registrar's Office (registrar@brandeis.edu) to ensure your credit is accounted for. You also may submit a pre-requisite override request through your academic worklet for your instructor or department administrator to approve if needed.
The instructor or department administrator must approve any override requests in Workday before you are eligible to enroll. Once the request has been approved, you will get a notification within Workday alerting you that it has been complete. Once complete, you will be able to register for the course.
While waiting for an override request in Workday, you will not be able to enroll in the course until the request is fully approved. The request will need to be approved by either the department admin or the instructor prior to being able to register in the course.
If the course section is not pre-populating, you don't need to request permission to enroll in the class. If you are still unable to enroll, please contact the Registrar's Office (registrar@brandeis.edu).
To see course capacity, navigate to your academics worklet, then select "Find Course Sections Brandeis" under the Planning and Registration menu. By entering your academic term (such as Fall 2023) and academic level (undergraduate or graduate), you will see the course schedule that meets your defined search. By selecting the course title in blue (which is link to the course itself), you will then see the enrollment and capacity for the course.
It will make it much easier to register the class that “failed” if both course sections are on your schedule when you initially try to register.
You do not need a prerequisite override. Click on the hyperlink for the course section that failed. You’ll see a “register” button there. You can register directly from there.
Waitlisted classes may not have seats available until after the academic term starts and even then there is no guarantee that seats will open up. You can register for another open class (that does not generate a time conflict). If a seat opens in your first choice, you can drop the second choice class and enroll in your first choice. Waiting for a class may impact your ability to carry a full course load. Refer to the manage my waitlist job aid for detailed instructions on how to add, register or drop a waitlisted class.
Waitlisted courses do not count towards your daily registration unit limit. You will be able to continue to register for courses up to your credit capacity. If a seat opens for the course you are waitlisted in, you will need to take action in your Workday inbox to approve the request within 24 hours. Once approved by the student, the courses will count in your current unit count.
You may also be receiving an error message because you cannot waitlist for a course if you are enrolled/waitlisted in another course held during the same meeting time (i.e., time conflict).
You cannot waitlist for a course unless you meet the prerequisites for the class. If you do not meet the prerequisites, please submit a prerequisite override request to put yourself on the waitlist.
You will need to complete the
time conflict form either getting the signatures of both instructors or including emails from both that indicate their approval for your enrollment. The form and any supporting emails need to be submitted to the Registrar's Office (
registrar@brandeis.edu) and they will manually enroll you in the course that you have not been able to enroll in.
Yes, but you cannot take the lab without the lecture unless you get permission from the instructor through the permission to enroll/prerequisite override request process.
You can add yourself to the waitlist in case a spot opens up or speak to the Registrar's Office about the availability for the next academic term.
HWL courses do not pull into the entire academic term course search as these are module courses. Students will have to search by module 1 or module 2, to locate HWL courses when using the Find Course Sections Brandeis Report. In the Academic Period field choose the academic term and year and the module number.
If you are trying to enroll in HSSP 89a or HSSP 100b, you will need to request permission through Workday via 'Request Permission/Prerequisite Override'
If you are trying to enroll in HSSP 110a, no further action is required at this time. Students will be enrolled by the Registrar's office from a list provided by the program.
Please confirm that your department administrator has submitted the request to the Registrar's Office (registrar@brandeis.edu).
Workday does not allow the 'Request Permission/Prerequisite Overrides' task to be used for students taking courses outside of their career. For an undergraduate to enroll in a graduate course (numbered above 199), or a graduate student to enroll in a class numbered below 100, you must fill out an add/drop form and submit that to the Registrar's Office (registrar@brandeis.edu) along with either the instructor's signature on the form or an email indicating approval.
