Leah Berkenwald
Leah Berkenwald ’07
Director of Health Promotion and Wellness Initiatives

Leah holds a master's in Health Communication from Emerson College in collaboration with the Tufts University School of Medicine, as well as a master's in American Studies from the University of Nottingham. She earned her Bachelor's in American Studies with a minor in Journalism at Brandeis in 2007.

Leah currently serves on the New England College Health Association Board of Trustees, and is an active member of the American College Health Association and the New England Health Educator Network. In her spare time she enjoys improv, hiking and creative writing.

Maddy Witwer-Dukes

Project Coordinator

Maddy is a second year Master of Public Health Candidate at Boston University School of Public Health. She is focusing her studies on Community Assessment, Program Design, Implementation and Evaluation and plans to pursue a career in college health in the future. At Brandeis, Maddy coordinates the Navigating Health and Safety module and assists with other Health and Wellness Promotion programs. In her free time, Maddy enjoys working out, spending time with friends, and searching for the best vegetarian/vegan food in Boston.

HAWP Graduate Assistant

Adrian is a master’s candidate at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management pursuing a degree in Global Health Policy and Management. He earned his bachelor’s in chemistry and biology with minors in legal studies and health: science, society, and policy from Brandeis in 2020. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, watching some of his  favorite television shows (including Brooklyn 99, Community, and Psych), and reading. He is very excited to work with HAWP this semester and continue to improve health and wellness on campus!

Michelle is a junior majoring in Health: Science, Society, and Policy and Neuroscience. She is looking forward to serving the Brandeis community by helping to promote and spread awareness about health and wellness. She is involved in UAID, a club on campus, and volunteers with General Tutoring on campus as well. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing, going for walks, hiking, playing piano, and painting.

Devan Chen '22
Health Promotion Intern

Devan is a junior majoring in Health; Science, Society & Policy and Biology. She is particularly invested in tackling health inequity through the lens of intersectionality. Additionally, she is looking forward to learning and engaging in health and wellness promotion at the local community level with HAWP during the Spring '21 semester. At Brandeis, Devan is one of the student supervisors for the Usdan Covid-19 Testing Site, a Community Advisor (CA), and a member of the Taiwanese Student Association. In her free time, Devan enjoys watching tv shows from around the world, reading, and night-time walks.

Hannah is a rising junior majoring in Health: Science, Society, and Policy and minoring in both Psychology and Legal Studies. She is extremely passionate about mental health and wellness and really wants to help those in her community. On campus, Hannah is president of her sorority. In her free time, she loves to draw, listen to music, go for walks, and have movie nights with her friends.

Sakinah is a senior majoring in Health: Science, Society, and policy and Psychology with a minor in International Global Studies. She is excited to help promote student health and wellness and contribute to the Brandeis community. She looks forward to making an impact through her interests of health communication and her passion for mental health awareness. Sakinah is the Brandeis HerCampus chapter head and works closely with admissions as an ambassador. She also loves volunteering with the Waltham group on campus. In her spare time she loves working out, spending time with friends and going on long walks.

Noah is a senior double majoring in Health: Science, Society, and Policy and German Studies. He is dedicated to transitioning Health and Wellness Promotion benefits to social media platforms and to continue keeping the Brandeis Community unified online. Additionally, Noah is an ACT! Lead of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network and represents his Congressional District of Virginia. He works on campaigns for public health advocacy and enjoys film studies.

Audrey is a junior majoring in Health: Science, Society, and Policy and minoring in business. She looks forward to contributing towards the Brandeis community by promoting health and wellness and encouraging students just like her to utilize the benefits of the Health and Wellness Promotion. She has been a member of the Brandeis Swimming and Diving Team since her freshman year and enjoys the outdoors, cooking, spending time with friends/family, and reading.

Tiffany is a junior studying Health: Science, Society, and Policy, and Business. She is passionate about promoting health and wellness, and is excited to make an impact through her interests in community health and marketing. Additionally, Tiffany has been a marketing assistant in TAMID, a consulting club on campus, and treasurer of her sorority. In her spare time, Tiffany enjoys doing yoga, going to the beach, cooking, and creating digital art and drawing.
