Matthew is a senior double majoring in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science with a minor in Business. He has served as a grader for Math 10B and as a teaching assistant in the computer science department. Matthew would love to share his experiences in pursuing Applied Mathematics major. In his free time, he enjoys reading novels, cooking, and doing sports. Ashley is a senior majoring in Applied Mathematics with a focus in Computer Science and minoring in Music as a Leonard Bernstein Music Fellow. She is also pursuing a Applied Mathematics senior thesis on shallow water acoustic spatial coherence with Dr. Miller of MIT Lincoln Laboratory. After graduation she hopes to apply her mathematics foundation in the data science and machine learning world tackling problems that impact the human condition. In addition to math, Ashley loves to make music, sing (classical, jazz and funk) and dance on and off campus. Other hobbies include listening to comedy podcasts and watching Youtube video essays on feminism, philosophy and pop culture. She is passionate about connecting with and mentoring undergrads going through the struggle of what it means to be a young adult and a STEM major. She also works part checking her emails, so reach out with any questions or concerns about the major, being a college student, industry internships in mathematics or anything else you can think of!
Jiayi is a senior triple majoring in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, and Economics. Jiayi has served in the Economic department as a teaching assistant, and a mentor for first-year international students in English Language Department. She loves to share her passion and experiences with peers. She also actively participated in various Mathematical research regarding Machine Learning. She also likes reading, painting , art history, travelling and cooking when she is free. Please feel free to email her if you have any questions or concerns.
Chloe Shiff is a senior majoring in applied mathematics and biology and minoring in physics. She works with the Kondev group at Brandeis doing theoretical biophysics research. She is also a coordinator for the Waltham Group club Hunger and Homelessness. In her free time, she loves to run, do puzzles, and bake vegan pastries. As a math mentor, Chloe hopes to help students make the most of their math experience at Brandeis.
