Mai is currently a junior pursuing a double major in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. As a transfer student who joined Brandeis in her sophomore year, she spent seven months in a data science role, where she developed her working skills by applying her math and computing knowledge in real-world scenarios. In her first semester at Brandeis, she participated in the Guided Reading Program organized by the math department, focusing on Clifford Algebra. While she enjoys the practical applications of mathematics, she also finds a greater joy in tackling calculus problems and engaging in proofs. Beyond her academic interests, she has served as deputy treasurer for the student union for three consecutive semesters and recently became part of the Girls Who Code E-Board as an event coordinator, as well as a member of the Branda App developers team. Although her experience in industry has been valuable, her ultimate aspiration lies in research within academia.

I am a junior double majoring in Applied Mathematics and Economics, with a minor in Philosophy. I have worked as a TA for Microeconomic Theory and Economics of Development, as well as a grader for Math 10a. Currently, I am the TA for Macroeconomic Theory and a research assistant for Professor Jingyi Huang in the Economics Department. My favorite classes in mathematics include Introduction to Proofs, Numerical Methods and Big Data, Optimization, and Probability. Outside of academics, I enjoy baking, cooking, playing sports, listening to music, and traveling. I am really passionate about mathematics and enjoy exploring fascinating topics, both in theory and application. I love helping my peers with math problems and am always open to discussing interesting ideas.
