The following outlines changes as part of the bi-annual releases that are automatically deployed by Workday for HR, Finance and Student. This includes information about new and enhanced features that are delivered with each release.
Period Activity Pay Has New Features!
The Period Activity Pay functionality in Workday has some new features that will greatly benefit users who add and update PAP. Users can now submit PAP before a hire date, no matter if there's an existing PAP for that position. Workday has also introducted a new feature where users can override default amounts by adjusting the amount faculty, staff and students are paid per pay period.
New Features to Evaluate Requirements
The Evaluate Academic Requirements report has a new feature that allows students and advisors to compare their current progress against a potential change in major or minor, or review the requirements for multiple programs of study at once. Students and advisors previously had to run the report multiple times to see more than one program of study; with these new features you can compare and contrast program of study requirements at the same time.
Workday Search field has moved!
The Workday Search field has moved – it will appear centered at the top of screen (previously on the top left). You can also choose to search by “people” or “tasks and reports” to narrow down your search results.
Report Prompts - New Dialog Box
There's a new way to view and select report prompts. After searching for and selecting a report (using the blue hyperlink), the prompts menu will now appear as a separate dialog window. Rather than being directed to a new page, users will stay within their current screen to set up parameters for the report. Users will continue enter or select prompt(s) and select the 'Ok' button to run the report.
Workday applies monthly, quarterly and bi-annual updates to the system. These updates keep the system up to date with any necessary security patches, bug fixes and general updates.
The bi-annual releases typically take place in Spring (March) and late Summer (September) of each year when new features and enhancements are applied to the system. These updates are tracked with a naming convention of YEAR and RELEASE NUMBER. So the 2021 bi-annual releases are numbered 2021R1 (March) and 2021R2 (September).
