Richard Petrasso, PhD’72, shared the American Physical Society’s John Dawson Award for excellence in plasma physics research. He serves as senior scientist at the MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center. Jill Mesirov, MA’73, PhD’74, was named to California Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr.’s Advisory Committee on Precision Medicine, which will determine how the state will use data-driven tools and analysis to develop new diagnostics, therapies and insights into health and disease. Jill has served as associate vice chancellor for computational health sciences and professor of medicine in the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, since 2015. Howard Greenblatt, MA’75, PhD’76, co-authored the book “Oh, What a Move!” which chronicles the history of basketball in Hartford, Connecticut, from 1954-84 through profiles of the city’s outstanding players. Susan Windham-Bannister, Heller PhD’77, managing partner of Biomedical Innovation Advisors, and president and CEO of Biomedical Growth Strategies, is president-elect of the Association for Women in Science.
