Idaho resident Annette Bay Pimentel, MA’88, writes nonfiction picture books. Her book “Mountain Chef: How One Man Lost His Groceries, Changed His Plans and Helped Cook Up the National Park Service” won the 2017 Carter G. Woodson Book Award for best elementary-school title depicting the lived experience of an ethnic or racial minority in the U.S. The award is presented by the National Council for the Social Studies. Her latest book, “Girl Running,” about the first woman to run the Boston Marathon, came out in February.
