Registered Brandeis University student organizations are required to seek approval for the use of Brandeis trademarks first through the Office of Student Activities. A license is not required unless the registered student organization intends to resell merchandise.
CLC will make every effort to expedite licenses requested by student groups wishing to resell merchandise and provide a list of vendors (pdf) that may be able to produce licensed items quickly. Vendors producing items for registered student organizations are not required to pay the licensing fee but must obtain a license. Vendors and purchasers should be aware that it may take 8-12 weeks for new licensees to obtain approval.
Campus departments and programs purchasing items for internal use are required to seek approval for the use of Brandeis trademarks through CLC prior to ordering.

Direct, indirect, implied or inferred institutional endorsement by Brandeis University is prohibited without the written permission of the Office of Communications. The use of any name, logo, picture, building, landmark or other image of the university is not permitted in advertising by private individuals or companies without the written permission of the Office of Communications. The identification of an individual’s relationship to Brandeis University is acceptable as long as there is an affiliation and there is no confusion as to institutional endorsement.
Advertising may not contain photos with readily identifiable Brandeis University buildings or landmarks, or photos of persons wearing Brandeis team uniforms that are not commonly available in the marketplace. Photos that include individuals wearing standard Brandeis University apparel, such as a sweatshirt, are acceptable.
Businesses selling officially licensed Brandeis University products may use these products in their advertising, though there must be no implication that the business is endorsed by the university. Licensees may use such statements as “We sell officially licensed Brandeis University products.”
