Marcia (Book) Adirim works at her other alma mater, New Jersey’s Montclair State University, where she is program assistant for the school’s doctoral program in teacher education and teacher development. She continues to write and edit for Harlequin Books. Marcia lives in Bloomfield, New Jersey, with husband Brad, son Ethan (now a sophomore in high school), and their dog and tortoise. Lauri Croce opened her own law office in Fletcher Hills, California, two miles from her home in San Diego. She is celebrating her 30th year of practicing law in Southern California, specializing in representing residential and commercial common-interest developments. Alyson (Arbeiter) Distel lives in West Orange, New Jersey. Her husband, Steve, whom she was with since age 15, passed away. Her younger son is a junior at Drew University, and her older son is practicing construction law in West Palm Beach, Florida. Alyson continues to work, primarily with manufacturers, as an outsourced CFO and systems analyst. She explains, “I help companies find the best software to run their business from the workflow and the financial sides, get everything up and working, and act as a liaison between their in-house financial people and their accountant.” Lucille Friedland, a marketing consultant and coach, wrote “You Can Prosper: How to Do More With Less,” in which she shares money-saving secrets she used while recovering from injuries suffered during car crashes. Heidi Smith Hyde and Martin Hyde, P’12, celebrated the marriage of their son Andrew ’12 to Avital DeSharone ’13, MA’13. Andy and Avi met while members of the Brandeis crew. Rebecca Laszlo started a new position as property manager for two homeless- and affordable-housing projects at the nonprofit agency Compass Housing Alliance in Shoreline, Washington. Kurt Nizar Maksad, who lives in Beirut, Lebanon, works in international sales and export development for the Middle East and Africa. Lois Yurow earned a master’s degree in communication and information studies from Rutgers in December. She is approaching the 20th anniversary of the formation of her business, Investor Communications Services, which specializes in translating legal, business and financial information into plain English.
