Lily (Christian) Eggers lives in San Francisco with her husband, Matt, and 2-year-old son, Henry. A licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice, she leads groups for new mothers and babies. Steven Exler, senior rabbi at the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale, in New York City, participated in the 2016 White House Hanukkah celebration with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Shira Wiesel, granddaughter of Elie Wiesel, lit the menorah. Daniel Fogelman married Lauren Phillips on Sept. 4 at Glen Island Harbour Club, in New Rochelle, New York. Daniel is a lawyer who works in Manhattan as an adviser to the Social Security Administration. According to a story in The New York Times, the couple met during a 2014 performance of the Broadway musical “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” when Daniel tried to move to an empty seat next to Lauren to get a better view of the stage. “Not in the middle of a song,” she scolded him. At intermission, he apologized profusely for his poor theater etiquette. She forgave him; he sat down next to her; and almost exactly a year later, sitting in those same seats, they became engaged. Laurence Hasson is a partner at Bernstein Liebhard. His law practice focuses on securities, and complex commercial and whistleblower litigation. Greg Lawrence is director of Shalom Baby (for expecting couples) and Shalom Family (nature-oriented Jewish programming for young families) at Temple Beth Sholom in Miami Beach. James McBean, founder and president of the Jamaican Fencing Federation, continues to develop the endeavor by drawing on international talent. He recently opened the James Adolphus Fencing Association to provide Jamaican fencers with resources for long-term success in the sport. James lives in Orlando, Florida; Mexico City; and Kingston, Jamaica. He enjoys spending time with his wife and son, who, he writes, “teaches us to love, to be patient and to appreciate the mystery of life.” Miriam Philips, who relocated to the San Francisco area with husband Danny and 1-year-old daughter Julia, is director of family learning at Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos Hills. Greg Schwartz, MS’03, is an assistant professor of ophthalmology, physiology and neurobiology at Northwestern University. He lives with his wife, Sarah Kampbell, and their children, Nathan and Erica. Marci Surkes, who serves as chief of staff to Ralph Goodale, minister of public safety and emergency preparedness in Canada, discovered a connection with Deborah Waller Meyers ’93, who works for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. “Given our shared border,” Marci writes, “we naturally have considerable overlap in our work.” Brian Waldman married Brooke Heidecorn on Aug. 6 at Sleepy Hollow Country Club, in Briarcliff Manor, New York. Twenty alumni were in attendance. Brian works in New York for Teneo, a global corporate advisory firm, as a vice president in the strategy division.
