2026 Master's Cohort
The following students entered the master's in philosophy program in fall 2026:
My philosophical interests include phenomenology, metaphysics, and epistemology, particularly questions concerning personal identity, grief, death, memory, and the ways our relationships shape who we become. I am especially interested in the relationship between lived experience and philosophical theory, and in how individuals construct meaning through loss, change, and connection with others.
Outside of philosophy, I enjoy oil painting, ceramic sculpture, creative writing, theater, and cooking. When I'm not reading philosophy, I'm usually working on an art project, experimenting in the kitchen, or spending time with my two cats.
I received my BA in Philosophy with minors in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. My academic interests are primarily in ethics and social philosophy, though I also enjoy studying their intersections with metaphysics and feminist epistemology. I am curious about how action, emotion, and perception facilitate empathy and self-knowledge – especially in the context of struggle and conflict. This inspires my exploration of how we should care for others and ourselves in situations like addiction, grief, and love.
Along with philosophy, I am also passionate about working in community spaces providing services in mental health, substance abuse treatment, and grief support. In my free time, I enjoy spending it with friends, grabbing coffee or boba, exploring new places, and playing tennis or weightlifting.
I recently graduated with a BA in philosophy and economics as well as a minor in English from Kenyon College.
My philosophical interests are currently centered around the philosophy of emerging technologies (particularly AI and social media). I am interested in approaching this issue from the perspective of analytical ethics, continental social theories, and political philosophy.
Outside of philosophy, I love to visit art museums, explore the world through literature, experiment with strange food combinations, and (when time permits) play a board game.
In the spring of 2026, I graduated from Reed College with a B.A. in philosophy. My philosophical focuses have included epistemology and mind, with a developing further interest in applied ethics; as philosophy is concerned with uncovering the truth, I believe that the truth must change you. During my undergraduate years, I worked as a newspaper editor, writing and thesis tutor, and occasionally as a DJ. In my free time, I love to run my online literary magazine, write poetry, experience music and films both classic and contemporary, and explore my beloved Boston.
Jordan studied Interdisciplinary Humanities with a focus in Philosophy at the University of San Diego. His philosophical interests include aesthetics, philosophy of mind, and social and political philosophy. Outside of philosophy, he enjoys music (especially electronic and R&B), visual art, night walks, yoga, and continuing to be humbled by chess. Oh! And he's a foodie!
I graduated from Davidson College with a BA in Philosophy and honors in the major. My main philosophical interests lie in early modern European philosophy, applied ethics, and political philosophy. Specifically, I aim to research how the idea of natural law—especially from early modern European thought—has influenced contemporary political theories, as well as how contemporary figures understand, revise, or reject the notion of natural law altogether. I'm quite a hardcore empiricist, and my favorite philosopher at the moment is David Hume. Outside of philosophy, I love video games and painting. I am obsessed with the art and history of the Renaissance.
