Mid-Autumn Festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated in many Asian countries in the eighth month of the lunar calendar when the moon is at its fullest. Celebrated for thousands of years by the Chinese, it has other names in other cultures, including Chuseok (Korean), Tsukimi (Japanese) and Tết Trung Thu (Vietnamese). Associated with the harvest, this three day festival is a time for families to gather and give thanks to their ancestors. Buddhists will bring offerings to temples, while general traditions include lighting lanterns and eating mooncakes.
