Milad al-Nabi
The Prophet Muhammad was born in the year 570 CE in Mecca, an oasis town in the Arabian peninsula believed to have been founded by Hagar while she awaited the return of her husband, the Prophet Abraham. While the exact date of the Prophet Muhammad's birth is debated, many single out one of the possible dates to celebrate all the blessings that his prophecy brings to the world. On the 12th day of the Islamic lunar month of Rabi' al-Awwal, many Muslims the world over gather to recite poems recounting the biography and especially the birth of the Prophet Muhammad.
