Brandeis Summer School

Tuition Adjustments and Refunds

Students are able to drop their enrollments in Workday self-service up. You do not need a drop code from a course instructor in the summer.

Adjustment and Refund Schedule

Once class begins, students have until the course drop deadline to drop the course directly in the Brandeis Workday system to receive a 100% removal of the course tuition charges.  All drops are time-stamped.  If students encounter any difficulties with dropping a course in Workday self-service, they should email the Summer School right away with their request to drop a course. The time-stamp of the email will determine the time of the drop, so even if the office is closed for the weekend, the time of the email will count toward the refund policy.  Please be sure written requests are submitted from the student via the student’s Brandeis University email account.

The drop deadlines for each summer session are as follows:

  • Summer Session 1 Course Drop Deadline - 11:59pm on Sunday, June 7, 2026
  • Extended Session O Course Drop Deadline - 11:59pm on Sunday, June 7, 2026
  • Summer Session 2 Course Drop Deadline - 11:59pm on Sunday, July 12, 2026

If you withdraw from a course after the Session's Course Drop Deadline, you will be held responsible for all tuition and fees associated with the course.

Students are responsible for dropping or withdrawing from a course by the deadlines. Absence from class or non-payment does not constitute an official withdrawal or dropped course. If your summer plans change and you are unable to attend the course for which you registered, you must officially drop/withdraw from the course in Workday.

Academic Status Withdrawal

A student whose academic standing is changed, based on spring term courses, or who does not successfully complete a Session 1 prerequisite for a Session 2 course, is considered academically ineligible. Anyone who becomes academically ineligible will be administratively withdrawn and will receive a 100% adjustment of tuition and fees.

Additional details on refunds can be found on the Student Financial Services website.

Refunds

If you have paid for your Summer School course, but later drop the class by the Course Drop Deadline, 100% of the course tuition charges are automatically removed from your student account in Workday.

You may then elect to leave the resulting credit on your student account for future charges, or you can request a refund check in Workday using the information found on the Student Financial Services website.

Summer School can not issue refund checks. The student needs to request the refund check from Student Financial Services in Workday.
