This exhibition, organized by the National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia, includes artifacts, video and photographs that explore Leonard Bernstein's life, music, Jewish identity and social activism. Additional materials from University Archives and Special Collections will document Bernstein’s time at Brandeis as a member of the music faculty and the board of trustees.

Brandeis students share stories of their February 2018 visit to the U.S-Mexico border, facilitated by Borderlinks. During their visit, the students met with migrants who had crossed into the U.S., saw the extreme militarization at the border, did water drops in the desert, learned about Operation Streamline, visited migrants in detention centers and crossed over the border into Mexico.

A performance poem spanning from the Antebellum South to present-day Chicago, "little sister" — written and performed by Northwestern University graduate student Misty De Berry — tells the story of a nomadic spirit who shape-shifts through the memories and imaginings of her sister, the narrator. The show witnesses and disrupts the legacy of violence in the lives of queer black women through a trans-temporal navigation of everyday encounters within familial, small groups and intimate partner spaces.

Zi’en Cui (崔⼦恩), a Chinese director, producer, author and pioneering LGBTQ+ activist, will screen his 2008 documentary about homosexuality in China, "Queer China, 'Comrade' China," and lead a discussion about intersectionality, queer culture and international activism.

Working in conjunction with the Office of the Arts, we are creating a campuswide dance video that will showcase many of the approximately 20 dance groups on campus. The video will feature multiple songs, inculding portions of an instrumental rendition of "West Side Story," performed by the Brandeis orchestra, plus contemporary tracks.
