Faces of GPS: Meet Jess Ronan

This week, we are excited to welcome Jess Ronan, our new senior admissions coordinator, to the Brandeis Online community.
Get to know Jess!
What are some fun facts about you?
I like to sew, surf, and cook.
Can you tell us about your background?
I grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts and attended Lesley University, graduating with a bachelor’s in Secondary Education and English Literature. I was a high school English teacher for nine years and really enjoyed helping students with the college admissions process, and therefore transitioned into higher education and admissions. In my free time, I love to spend time with family and friends, go to the beach, sew and make crafts, and put far too much cheese into any pasta dish I make.
What attracted you to Brandeis Online? What inspired you to work for Brandeis Online?
I was really drawn to Brandeis’ commitment to social justice and inclusion. My nine years of teaching were in inner city schools, working with students who were using education as a tool for personal growth and success as well as a way to create a more just world. Supporting them was such a joy. I love Brandeis Online’s focus on a practical, meaningful curriculum to help people build their own skills and support their families and futures.
What are the responsibilities of your role at Brandeis Online?
I am the senior admissions coordinator, so I work on connecting with students, answering questions, supporting their application processes, and making their transition into the program as seamless as possible. I also go on the road to meet our future students where they are.
What excites you the most about your new position? What are you most looking forward to?
I am most excited to begin working with the students. Most of our students are working professionals, so they’re busy and they don’t have a ton of time to figure out how to navigate graduate school. Being that resource to make things quick and easy is the best part of my day!
