Jay Pepose, GSAS MA’75, P’08, P’17, serves as chief medical adviser at Mimetogen Pharmaceuticals. He is founder and current medical director of the Pepose Vision Institute, and a professor of clinical ophthalmology and visual sciences at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Maria Magdalena Rodriguez is helping to create mentoring opportunities by connecting her Latinx classmates with current Latinx students at Brandeis. In addition, a video she helped put together and panels she’s sponsored are giving the Brandeis community a historical perspective on Latinx student successes and challenges throughout the decades. The video, along with alumni interviews, will become part of the Brandeis archives. Jonathan Sarna, GSAS MA’75, reports that 33 of his PhD students presented him with a volume titled “New Perspectives in American Jewish History: A Documentary Tribute to Jonathan D. Sarna,” published by Brandeis University Press in December. Ileene Smith is editor-at-large at Farrar, Straus and Giroux, and editorial director of the “Jewish Lives” biography series published by Yale University Press. Beth Anne Wolfson was accepted into the National Academy of Arbitrators in July 2021. In October, she became co-chair of the NAA New England Region.
