In April 2021, Brett Keiper, GSAS PhD’91, associate professor and graduate director at East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine, received a National Science Foundation Mid-Career Advancement Award for a three-year visiting-scientist research project on reproductive cells and mRNA regulation at Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratories, in Bar Harbor, Maine. Johnathan Brownlee, GSAS MFA’93, directed the comedy neo-noir film “(S)hit Squad,” which had its world premiere in Dallas in May. Heather Frederick, GSAS MA’97, PhD’99, is the author of a book aimed at doctoral students, “The Happy Doc Student Handbook: Seven Steps to Graduating With Your Sanity, Health and Relationships Intact,” which was published in February. Grant Duston, GSAS MA’98, is a senior analytic programmer at RxAnte, a predictive analytics and clinical services company. Tracey Kardash, GSAS MA’98, Heller MM’98, is a Realtor at Keller Williams Santa Monica. She is also an active member of the Greater Los Angeles philanthropic community. In her free time, Tracey enjoys bikepacking and native gardening. She and her husband, Albert, live in Pasadena, California, in a 1912 bungalow.
