Manuscript Review Workshops
The Mandel Center for the Humanities is pleased to announce funding for Manuscript Review Workshops for Associate Professors (junior faculty are still encouraged to apply for workshop funding through the Norman Fund). A Manuscript Review Workshop is designed to provide helpful and timely feedback to faculty preparing monographs prior to submission for publication.
The core of the Workshop will be an intensive discussion, either in person or on Zoom, with 2-3 invited guests, either external or Brandeis faculty, who will have read the work in advance. To apply, please send a 3-5 page book proposal (double-spaced), a 1-page statement of the current state of the project and what you hope to get out of the manuscript workshop, a timeline of the book project, a list of possible reviewers, proposed date of workshop and itemized budget. The budget can include travel and 2 nights’ accommodation for out-of-town reviewers, up to $1000 honorarium per reviewer, up to $300 for an optional moderator (the moderator should be a Brandeis or other local colleague), up to $300 for a student notetaker, and up to $500 for lunch or dinner with the speakers after the workshop. Budget limit is $5000 for in-person workshops and $3600 for Zoom workshops. Grant winners might be asked to present their book project at a future Mandel Center event.
Please send applications to Ulka Anjaria (uanjaria@brandeis.edu) and Esha Senchaudhuri (esenchaudhuri@brandeis.edu) no later than February 1, 2025.
