Brit d'Arbeloff Women & Science Theater Festival

The Brit d’Arbeloff Women & Science Theater Festival is a month-long Festival of virtual performances, panels and special events at the intersection of art and science. The Festival was created to amplify voices underrepresented in science (women, BIPOC/Black, Indigenous, people of color), promote mentoring opportunities, encourage engagement in science for audiences and artists, and to form a national network of theaters engaged in science.

MRSEC encourages everyone to participate in this festival and to that end have contributed a donation to the Central Square Theater. Members will need to register to events to receive Zoom details.

Some events of interest include:

• Young Nerds of Color (streaming April 8-11, 2021) is a play investigating the field of science from the perspective of the people who are underrepresented – people of color, women, ethnic minorities, and people from low-income families – through the sharing of personal and surprising stories. 
• Inside the process of making "Young Nerds of Color" (April 8 at 7:30 pm ET) Join Playwright, Melinda Lopez, and scientist, C. Brandon Ogbunu for a panel discussion as they reflect on the questions and themes raised in the play.
• How to Encourage a Science Nerd (April 12 at 7:30 pm ET) Join the How to Encourage a Science Nerd - STEM Education and Youth Experiences in Science panel to discuss equity, access, and innovation for youth and families. 
• The Color of Science (April 13 at 7:30 pm ET). Join for a conversation on equity and inclusion in science.
• In the Play Lab: Original Ten-Minute Plays (streaming April 15-18, 2021) is a collection of ten-minute plays featuring strong female characters engaging with real science. These plays will be followed up with panels featuring the playwrights on April 19th and 20th.
