PHIL 143A — Foundations of Decision Theory and Game Theory
[ hum ]What does it mean for a decision to be rational? How do the beliefs, desires, and preferences of rational agents interact when they cooperate or compete? In this course, we will explore the philosophical underpinnings of decision theory and game theory, which attempt to answer these questions within a framework developed by a motley collection of philosophers, economists, mathematicians, computer scientists, and evolutionary biologists. Usually offered every second year.
