Explores the semantic structure of language in terms of the current linguistic theory of model-theoretic semantics and introduces fundamental concepts of pragmatics. Topics include entailment, conversational implicature, projective implications, compositionality, and using typed lambda calculus to model predication, modification, and quantification in natural languages. Usually offered every year.
