The 2025 Mini-Conference
When Jerry Samet retired after 40 years of teaching, the Philosophy Dept. wanted to honor him with a conference. Jerry took the lead in launching the Masters Program back in 2009 so it felt appropriate to invite all the MA alumni.
In fact our first speaker, Kevin Lande was a member of that first cohort of MA students. Now he is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at York University and York Research Chair in Philosophy of Representation. Amazing! He will be speaking on "The Spatial Unity of Perception."
Peter Epstein, is Assistant Professor of Philosophy right here at Brandeis and he will be speaking on "An A Priori Constraint On What Science Can Tell Us About Perception."
Eli Hirsch, the Charles Goldman Professor of Philosophy, also here at Brandeis. He will be speaking on "Pride, Sanity, and the Existence of Other Selves."
Jennifer Marusic used to teach at Brandeis and then went on to become senior lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. We are excited to have her back for a minute! Jen will be speaking on "Bad Empiricists? Reflections on the Innateness Controversy."
