Talent Advancement Program (TAP) Mid-Year Review Training

As part of the Talent Advancement Program (TAP), mid-year performance reviews will launch in workday on November 13 and must be completed by Friday, December 8, 2023.

Managing at Brandeis Certificate Program

Brandeis is offering a professional development opportunity for managers presented virtually (replacing the Nuts and Bolts series) called Managing at Brandeis. The curriculum is targeted at newly appointed and mid-stage managers and focuses on practical knowledge and skills needed to succeed in management and leadership at Brandeis. Participants in the Certificate Program must supervise at least one regular staff member and must commit to attending each session September 21 through December 6 and complete any pre-work as assigned. Managers who complete all five sessions will receive a Managing at Brandeis Certificate of Completion and will be invited to attend an in-person gathering with light refreshments with their supervisor to receive their Certificate.

Legal Considerations of the Manager - Thursday 11/9 - 9:30 - 11:00 am [Registration has closed] 

It’s crucial as a manager to know the basics of the law in order to avoid common mistakes that can lead to real trouble. This workshop will provide managers with an overview of relevant employment and leave laws and will educate managers on how to recognize red flags and seek assistance from the HR Team.

Making Good Compensation Choices - Wednesday 12/6 - 9:30 - 11:00 am

Explore how compensation at Brandeis works in this practical and interactive learning experience for managers. The workshop covers the institution's total rewards philosophy and employee value proposition. You will enhance your understanding of key compensation considerations to optimize decisions at important points in an employee's lifecycle. Learn about Job Profiles versus individual position descriptions, setting new hires' pay, the annual merit increase program, determining compensation for promotions, and when market-based equity adjustments are appropriate.
