Ina Albert wrote “Granny Greeny Says … Listen Louder,” an intergenerational picture book dedicated to playfully reminding us how to connect with one another. Ina believes that listening is fast becoming a lost skill and technology is the greatest enemy of interpersonal communication. “In our attention-deficit society, emails, texts and tweets are no substitute for the exchange of understanding created by face-to-face conversations,” she says. A bevy of Brandeis graduates contributed to Ina’s book’s creation: her husband, Rabbi Allen Secher ’56; illustrator Bret Schlesinger ’57, whom Allen married to Susan Eyre; and Tania Grossinger ’56, Ina’s former Brandeis roommate and herself an author.
