In January, bassist Chuck Israels played in a recording/video production at the Violin Museum in Cremona, Italy, with guitarist/lutenist Edin Karamazov. Then he taught for a few days at the Sibelius Academy, in Helsinki, Finland, and recorded music for jazz trio and string quartet in Gothenburg, Sweden, for the Marten loudspeaker company. Back in the U.S., he has performances planned in Portland, Oregon, and Peoria, Illinois. (A recent Q&A with Chuck is on the Brandeis Alumni, Friends and Families website.) Letty (Cottin) Pogrebin’s 12th book, “Shanda: A Memoir of Shame and Secrecy,” will be published in September.
