Nelson Handel and his wife, Elicia Laport, are selling the Los Angeles home they’ve lived in for 28 years and hitting the road for an indeterminate time, an adventure they’re calling their “retiremoon.” Nelson writes, “We foresee a year or two of vagabonding around the globe until we find a corner of Earth to re-nest in for a while. Then, if we’re lucky enough to welcome a grandchild, we will move around the corner from our son’s family and call it a life.” Audrey Hemmat-Taffet retired in 2021 after a 35-year career and raising three boys. She writes, “My husband, Gary Taffet ’80, predicted I couldn’t slow down, and he was right. I’m busier than ever with hobbies, travel, exercise, and volunteer work. Shoutout to my Brandeis Girl Gang, who helped me through the pandemic with our weekly Zoom calls.” Rob Matlin is a senior corporate partner at a multinational law firm, based in New York City. He reports he’s been happily married for 33 years, and has two great daughters and a dog. Nancy Lerner Stein is sisterhood co-president at her shul, Congregation Beth Sholom in Lawrence, New York. In August 2021, she became a grandmother for the fifth time with the birth of a grandson (daughter Rebecca is the baby’s mom). Daughter Debra was married in February.
