Specifications
IMPACT is looking for a fundraising consultant to:
- Develop a focused fundraising strategy for IMPACT, building on clear and consistent messaging and existing relationships and mapping.
- Raise institutional and private donations, and create funding collaborations for:
- IMPACT programs/program areas of Advocacy; Capacity Building; Exchange;
- General Operating budget
- Short, Mid and Long-term organizational continuity
- Build capacity of IMPACT to identify and pursue funding opportunities in a timely fashion, including advice on how to manage relationships with funders and donors. Contribute to building organizational capacities including supporting new staff positions e.g. from fundraising associate to executive director; refining the narrative and messaging in line with marketing and comms.
Purpose
IMPACT has an annual budget of $221,000.00 for July 2022-June 2023. We are looking to sustain this level of funding and increase our income to grow our operation and deliver more programmes.
We expect the fundraising consultant to be able to raise a minimum amount of $250,000 income for 2023 onwards. We are looking for sources of funding that are in line with our mission and values, and that are diverse, e.g., trusts and foundations, philanthropy, crowdsourcing, gifting, donors etc.
The types of funded initiatives should be developed in line with our Annual Work Plan priorities and ambitions, and involve our partners and existing networks where possible.
Profile and eligibility criteria of Fundraising Consultant

A strong level of English, and clear and concise writing abilities. Ability to translate ideas and messaging into project proposals and action. |

Governance
IMPACT is an independent global non-profit organization, registered in the US. It is governed by a diverse Board of Directors, including members from Argentina, Belgium, Israel, Japan, Kenya, and the US.
IMPACT is seeking a Fundraising Consultant, who will work as part of a team with IMPACT’s Program Manager (P.M.) and an IMPACT Fundraising Associate (F.A.), under the guidance and in cooperation with the Board Fundraising (FR) Work Group. As needed the Fundraising Team will consult with other board work groups and the Program Team, and collaborate as needed for specific projects.
- The consultant will be expected to be the lead writer on most, if not all grant proposals, receiving support from the P.M. and F.A.
- The overall work flow and deadlines and logistics of proposal management will be the responsibility of the P.M.
- Proposals will be sent out by P.M. who will be official point of contact with donors and prospective donors
- The relationship holder with the funder will be established on a case-by-case basis, depending on who holds the relationship and the content of proposals
- Content input expected from Program Team and IMPACT members
- Resources for programme delivery and operations will be built into fundraising budgets, where possible
- The F.A. will initially work on a freelance basis – master student or masters graduate level – will primarily focus on research and grant opportunities, administrative support and editing of relevant documents.
Compensation
Up to $15,000 ($200-400/day depending on level of experience and daily rate). This amount will be paid on a monthly basis based on timesheets. This amount includes any VAT. Consultants should have their own liabilities and insurance.
Timeframe
5-6 months from October 2022 to March 2023 — possibility of extension
