Indigo Road Project
The Indigo Road Project is a fiber art installation conceived by Brooke Stanton, costume shop director in the Department of Theater Arts, and constructed by Brandeis students in the spring and fall semesters of 2023.
It honors the history of enslaved people working on indigo plantations in the United States and connects it to the cultural history of American blue jeans.
The Indigo Road Project will be on view in the Dreitzer Gallery, Spingold Theater Center, from April 11-14, 2024, as part of the Leonard Bernstein Festival of the Creative Arts.
