International Scholars and Staff

The International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) team provides a wide array of services to academic departments and international professors, researchers, and visiting scholars coming to Brandeis University.

We Provide:

  • Advising for scholars on immigration issues including, visa application, maintenance of status, employment, travel, dependents, extension of stay, and referrals to on-campus and community resources
  • Advising for departments on hiring foreign nationals and determining the appropriate non-immigrant status for prospective international hires and visitors
  • Orientation programs for incoming scholars
  • Educational, cultural, and social programming for scholars and their family members to help them adjust to living in the U.S.

 The ISSO is thrilled to have international scholars and staff as part of the Brandeis community!

Steps to Begin Your Employment at Brandeis

Step 1: Receive your Appointment Letter

Once you have been hired by Brandeis University you will receive an official appointment letter.  The ISSO will be automatically notified once the letter is issued.

If you are considering working for Brandeis University outside of the U.S. the Office of Human Resources has specific guidelines for individuals working outside the U.S. 

Step 2: Fill out the Scholar Application Form

The ISSO will reach out to you to complete a Document Application for New Scholars.

Step 3: Wait for Further Instructions from the ISSO

The ISSO scholar team will review your application and determine the appropriate visa status for your position.  After consultation with the hiring department, you will receive further instructions.
