Invitation to Join 9/11 Commemoration and Panels

Sept. 2, 2021

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

Next week marks the 20th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States. In our nation's history, few days have had such an impact in shaping American politics and culture. As we grapple with the complex legacy of that day — and the decades that have followed — it is important that we recognize and honor those lives lost and those countless lives affected by the events of that tragic morning.

Next week, there will be opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to convene in recognition of this milestone anniversary. Included in our week of remembrance will be two faculty-led panels, sponsored by the Office of the President, which will explore how September 11 has influenced politics and psychology and how it has shaped personal and professional lives. Additionally, the Center for Spiritual Life, the Student Union, and the Graduate Student Association will host two commemorations for our community to come together in memorial.

We should never lose sight of the enduring legacy of September 11, and I invite you all to join me in reflection next week. You can learn more about the events planned for the week and how you can participate.

Sincerely,

Ron Liebowitz
