Definitions of Official Transcripts

Please note that any transcripts that were uploaded to your application or that were emailed directly by you are not considered official.

Undergraduate Education

Your official, final transcript must indicate the degree earned and the date it was conferred. If this information is not listed on the transcript itself, please include a degree certificate along with your transcript. Please note that if your bachelor’s degree was recently conferred this spring, your degree conferral information may not yet be included on your transcript. Please verify that this conferral information is listed on your transcript prior to sending.

In addition to your final official undergraduate transcript, please provide official transcripts for any coursework taken at additional institutions for which the grades or transfer credits do not appear on your final transcript.

Graduate Education

Official transcripts are required from any institution where you took graduate-level courses. These transcripts do not need to indicate that a degree or certificate was earned.

How to Send Your Official Transcript(s)

Electronic Versions

Electronic versions of your transcripts can be sent directly from your institutions or from third party transcript providers to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at gsas@brandeis.edu. Electronic transcripts sent directly from students cannot be considered official. If you will be requesting your transcript through a third party provider (e.g., National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment), you will be prompted to select a recipient for your transcript. There will be multiple recipient options for Brandeis University; please select the one that specifically references "Graduate School of Arts and Sciences" or “GSAS.” This will ensure that your transcript reaches our office and not another office on campus.

We encourage you to request electronic transcript versions from your institution(s) when possible.

Paper Versions

Paper versions of your transcripts can be sent to the address found below. These transcripts need to arrive in envelopes that were sealed by your university, which have remained unopened.
