Susan Band Horwitz, PhD’63, in April received a Gairdner International Award, popularly known as Canada’s Nobel, given to recognize outstanding medical research. Susan is a professor of cancer research at New York’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her work helped demonstrate the efficacy of the drug Taxol, derived from the bark of the Pacific yew tree, in cancer treatment.
