Assistant Professor in Theoretical Physics

The Physics Department in the School of Arts and Sciences at Brandeis University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning in academic year 2020-2021. For an exceptional candidate, appointment at a more senior level may be considered. This position is subject to budget approval.

We seek candidates with demonstrated expertise in formal theoretical physics, including such areas as string theory, classical and quantum gravity, quantum field theory, cosmology, mathematical physics, and quantum information theory.

Expectations for this position include: development of a vigorous, externally well-funded, and internationally recognized research program, including supervision of graduate students and postdocs; effective and enthusiastic instruction in physics at undergraduate and graduate levels; participation in department and university governance; and professional service.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in physics or a closely related field, and have postdoctoral experience at the time of appointment. They should demonstrate a strong record of accomplishments in physics research; vision, creativity, and leadership skills; a desire to advise and teach a diverse and dynamic student body; and a commitment to addressing issues of diversity and inclusion in the university community.
