Business, Technical, and/or Science Writing

Full-Time Lecturer Beginning Fall 2021

The University Writing Program at Brandeis University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer beginning Fall 2021. We seek experienced instructors with backgrounds in professional writing, including business writing and technical or science writing. Candidates must demonstrate commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate teaching as well as experience in the teaching of writing. A PhD is preferred; MA or ABD will be considered, with the field open, e.g., Rhetoric and Composition; Education with a specialty focus such as Science or Business; English; Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences. Industry and/or professional experience involving technical communication, business writing, medical writing, and/or science writing is desired. Experience working with international students and students whose language is not English is preferred. The position is full-time and benefits-eligible. The initial appointment may be up to three years, with the possibility of renewal. Position subject to budgetary approval. 

The successful candidate will be an innovative instructor responsible for teaching three first-year, topic-based University Writing Seminars per semester. As a full-time lecturer, the candidate will develop at least two different course topics emphasizing interdisciplinarity to better serve our students with interests in business, natural sciences, and social sciences. In addition, we seek a dynamic educator who wishes to play an active role in shaping the future of the Writing Program and in working with the broader University community.
