Hi everyone, I’m Alex Cohen, and today I’m humbly stepping into the volunteer spotlight at the Community Day Center of Waltham (CDCW). As a senior at Brandeis University, juggling a major in Business, a minor in Economics, and being part of the softball team, I’ve found a unique way to blend my academic pursuits with a heartfelt commitment to community service.

My involvement with CDCW, facilitated through a leadership course focused on social impact, has been an enriching chapter in my life. Whether it’s creating engaging content for our social media platforms or helping to organize volunteers for our key events like the annual gala, every moment has been a step in my journey of learning and giving back.

This experience has been a reminder of the power of community and the impact of collective efforts. I’m incredibly thankful for the chance to be a part of the CDCW family and for all the inspiring individuals I’ve met along the way. Here’s to making a difference, one post, and one event at a time!

The Leadership Internships in Social Impact Organizations course (BUS 297c) at Brandeis with Professor Gene Miller has been a pivotal part of my journey. This unique program blends academic learning with real-world impact, allowing me to take on strategic roles in social impact organizations. From the structured academic focus in the fall to the hands-on experience in the spring, including participation in Deis Hacks, I've embraced challenges that go beyond traditional internships. This course has profoundly shaped my approach to community engagement, empowering me to make meaningful contributions while developing my leadership skills in the social impact sphere.
