James Deschaine Jr. served as hitting coach for the Bristol Blues, the Connecticut city’s entry in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. The former minor leaguer grew up in Bristol. Mona Doss was married in 2015 and has completed her pediatric residency at the University of Connecticut. Catherine (Heffernan) Gibson and her husband, Micah, welcomed a baby girl, Noa Pearl, on June 2, 2016. Brandeisians in attendance at Noa’s eight-day brit bat ceremony included Lauren (Apfelbaum) Miller, Megan (Rook-Koepsel) Parker ’05, Debra (Eichenbaum) Perlin and Rachel Ackerman ’05. Rabbi Aaron Miller officiated. Jackie (Cooperman) Jossen and her husband, Matt, welcomed a baby girl, Eliana June, on Jan. 19, 2016. Jackie is a pediatric gastroenterologist at Mount Sinai Hospital, in New York City. Lauren Kessler married Petr Kout in Manhattan in spring 2015. Many of her closest Brandeis friends attended the celebration, including Deborah Grossman ’05 and Sarah Levinson, who served as bridesmaids. Lauren, a Manhattan resident, teaches fourth grade at a private school on the Upper East Side. She received a master’s degree in curriculum and teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2007, and has been teaching for 10 years. Amanda Rosenfield Lippes, an associate of Simpson & Simpson in Buffalo, New York, was registered as a patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Laura Mariani, MS’06, finished her PhD in neuroscience at Emory. She has transitioned from scientific research to executive recruiting for higher education and nonprofit organizations at Isaacson, Miller in Boston. Sarah (Eisenhandler) McGinley and her husband, Col. Michael McGinley, welcomed twins Claire Adeline and Finnian Chance to their family in late 2015. The twins join big sister Elle Josephine. Ilana Snapstailer, MA’07, is the executive director of Kesher Newton, an innovative Jewish after-school program.
