Nikhil Agarwal, an assistant professor of economics at MIT, was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list of young innovators in health care. His research on matching systems explored how medical residents are assigned to hospitals. He is now studying the allocation of transplant organs. Sheela Belagaje and her husband, Sudhir, welcomed Shankar Vasudeva in July 2016. His Ollie stuffed animal keeps him company throughout the day. Hannah (King) Brilling joined Co-op Food Stores in May 2016 as a nutrition specialist. She partners with community groups, runs culinary classes, and provides nutrition education to co-op members and employees. After discovering her love of nutrition through yoga-teacher training in 2010, Hannah studied nutrition at Keene (New Hampshire) State College and is now working to become a registered dietitian. Sarah Brin, who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, works as a curator at the Autodesk’s Pier 9 Workshop. Kim (Fraser) Chase, IBS MA’11, is a global economist at General Electric. Dani and Jon Eskow welcomed Gabrielle to the family on July 14, 2016. Sister Mikaela is 2. Darren Gallant married Ryan Shannon in July 2016 at Provincetown (Massachusetts) Town Hall. Darren is Brandeis’ assistant director of study abroad, and Ryan is a psychotherapist in Burlington. The couple lives in Newton. Ashkan Hamzelou graduated from Rowan University’s School of Osteopathic Medicine and started his residency at CarePoint Health Bayonne Medical Center. He writes, “I’m working crazy hours, but I love it.” Cindy Kaplan launched Hollywood Résumés, a résumé-writing service focused on the entertainment industry. After earning a PhD in theoretical and applied mechanics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Brandon Lieberthal is working as a postdoctoral researcher in engineering at the University of Maine. He conducts fluid dynamics simulations to test the effects of climate change on the structural integrity of the aquaculture industry. He and his partner, Allie Gardner, live in Orono with his two cats. For fun, he hikes mountains in Acadia National Park and plays trombone in a community band. Andrea Lubitz and Alex Botwick had a son, Nathan Levi, on Jan. 7, 2016. Rachel Marder is a fourth-year student at the Ziegler School of Rabbinical Studies, where she is a Wexner graduate fellow. She works as a rabbinic intern at Temple Beth Am in Los Angeles. Zach Seeskin earned a PhD in statistics from Northwestern in June 2016. He works on social research at NORC at the University of Chicago. Zach lives in Chicago with his wife, Lindsey. Daniel Shani, CEO of Energy Intelligence, a startup technology company based in Buffalo, New York, was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list of innovators in the energy field. Daniel is developing a clean-energy device that lies flat in high-traffic areas (like parking garages) and harnesses wasted energy from moving vehicles.
