Application Process

The Master of Arts (MA) program in Ancient Greek and Roman Studies has two potential start dates to accommodate students. Applications are accepted twice each year for fall and spring admissions.

Admissions Deadlines

  • August start date: February 15
  • Spring semester, beginning in January: October 15

Application materials can be found on the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) website.

All students who have completed (or are in the process of completing) a Bachelor's degree are eligible to apply for the Master of Arts (MA) program in Ancient Greek and Roman Studies (Classical Studies).

Application Requirements

  • An online application
  • An application fee
  • A copy of a transcript from each post-secondary institution attended.
  • Two letters of recommendation, submitted electronically
  • A curriculum vitae (CV) or resumé
  • A statement of purpose (one to three pages) indicating your reasons for undertaking graduate study. In your statement, please also describe your qualifications for the academic program and your objectives in undertaking this program.
  • A writing sample (no more than 15 pages) is optional.

International students

Scholarship Aid and Course Assistantships

The MA program in Ancient Greek and Roman Studies offers program offers generous merit and need-based scholarships to all eligible students.  In addition, the department offers a limited number of course assistantships to help students defray the cost of their graduate study.
