Even though President Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran, he has reached out to North Korea–despite the latter's possession of nuclear weapons. In this Q&A session, Robert Gallucci will discuss the history and prospects of U.S. efforts to contain and eventually eliminate North Korea's nuclear weapons threat, while maintaining peace and security on the Korean peninsula. Gallucci served for over twenty years in the U.S. government, including as a negotiator for the first U.S.–North Korean nuclear agreement in 1994. He is a Distinguished Professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at Georgetown University. He holds an MA ('68) and PhD ('74) in Politics from Brandeis University.
