Hear Our Voices: Tom Derry Holocaust Film Documentary Hungary

Undergraduate Project

Project Information

Professor Deidre Butler, Carleton University, Ottawa, a member of the HBI's Academic Advisory Committee,  is working on a series of film documentaries for educational use that center new oral history interviews. This part of the project focuses on the experiences of Tom Derri, a Hungarian child who survived the Shoah while hiding with his female and elderly male relatives. The project highlights gendered experiences of the Shoah in his extended family to teach about the history of the Holocaust through one family's story.

Professor Butler requires an intern to assist with internet archival research, to work with existing footage to identify clips and gaps in the research, and to develop resources for the film and its website.
