No, it will not simply copy everything over even if you are teaching the same class in the semester. However, you can perform a backup of all of your current course materials and then restore it during your next class in the semester. Therefore, it is possible to duplicate your course shell, that way you will not have to create it from scratch in the future.
The ask class forum is a forum activity that comes in the Moodle shell that you and your class can utilize if you choose to do so. It is a place where students can ask any questions that they want about the class, such as a question on an assignment, an issue they may be having with an activity or something they are confused about. It also allows you as the instructor to respond along with other students who may know the answers.
All Moodle courses will be available four months before their projected start date.
Yes, when you add an activity, you will see a list of all the activities you can add (ie. assignment, label, quiz, etc.). In addition to the Add button, you'll see an "i" symbol next to each activity. When you click on that, you will get a brief description of the activity.
Yes, when you are setting up your assignment activity, you can enable Use Mark Workflow, which can be found under the grade settings. This will allow you to select which students you wish to release the grades for and update their assignment status (eg. not marked, in marking, marking completed, released, etc.).
LATTE is based on Moodle 3. Brandeis will move forward with an upgrade to Moodle 4.
Moodle courses are retained for two years per the Course Retention Policy. If it is outside of that time frame, professors can contact help@brandeis.edu and request an archived course.
Brandeis does not support integration of Gradescope into Moodle. It is possible to export Moodle grades into a spreadsheet and import those into the Moodle Gradebook. Learn more by visiting the Library Guide on using Gradescope.

It depends upon what you are expecting Moodle to do. As far as system languages, it supports Hebrew, but not Yiddish. Moodle has the full Hebrew character set and a right-to-left text entry option, so anyone can enter content in a Hebrew character language without a problem.

There is an app for Moodle, but Brandeis ITS does not recommend using it.
Brandeis ITS recommends using Chrome or Mozilla Firefox when using Moodle.
Yes, you should be able to import the course. There might be some changes due to the version of Moodle and the settings that the previous institution used. The LibGuides page on Backup and Restoration contains more information. We recommend following the directions for Restoring Your Course from a Backup File.

We will investigate this further. Right now, there does not appear to be an option to allow for students to post anonymously. One solution is to create private groups so that only the instructor can see the questions.
